Ambience soundscapes, a redesigned Codex, and offline catch-up
Layer soundscapes and composed scores under narration, explore the rebuilt Codex tabs with a spoiler gate, and take whole novels offline with Download all chapters.
StoryCodex 1.8.1 adds an ambient layer to listening, makes the Codex visible inside the page, and rounds out offline reading for web novels. It also carries a wide reliability pass across sync, billing, importing, and text to speech.
Ambience soundscapes
The reader gains an Ambience mixer: layer bundled procedural presets and real-audio loops under your narration with per-layer volume, or open "Create from this story" to compose a chapter-specific score on-device and full songs through the cloud or your own OpenRouter key. Composed songs are saved to your library and can be reused across books.
A redesigned Codex
The Codex tabs are rebuilt for repeat visits: story arcs collapse into digest cards, characters get a recently-updated rail, status tags, and a featured protagonist card, world rows group into counted sections with real glyphs, and the timeline gains a reading-position flag.
Never miss a chapter
A new Download all chapters action on a novel's details saves every unsaved chapter at once and shows a progress card while it works. Pro adds two more ways to stay current on web novels: a daily new-chapter alert, and per-novel auto-download that saves new chapters for offline reading as soon as they appear.
Find in chapter
Search inside the chapter you are reading and step through every match, right from the reader.
Codex and companion polish
Generated images can now be deleted or saved to your gallery, bulk analysis shows live progress on the card and in a notification, and aborts drain running jobs cleanly instead of orphaning them. In the reader, codex mentions swap the heavy solid underline for a subtle dotted one.
